Lagos State Gornment, joinbodi with State Primary Health Care Board, on Tuesday don announce oh, say dem go carry out Measles–Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign to fight vaccine-preventable sickness for di state.
Dem say di ogbonge campaign go run from January 20 to January 31 across Lagos, covering schools, religious centres, primary healthcare centres and markets, and e go target pikin wey age dey between nine and 14 years.
Speaking during one-day media tuk tuk for Lagos, State Immunisation Programme Coordinator, Dr Matthew Akinpelu, explain say di vaccination na to reduce measles and rubella infection and close immunity gap for pikin wey never collect rubella vaccine.
According to Akinpelu, measles and rubella dey spread fast and dey very dangerous, especially for children and pregnant women, as about 10,000 pikin dey born every year with Congenital Rubella Syndrome for Nigeria.
