Sanwo-Olu Urge Surveyors Make Dem Play Bigger Role For National Development Planning

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, don call on professional surveyors for Naija make dem dey play bigger role for di country physical and economic development. Di call come as Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, receive Global President of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Nicholas Maclean, for official residence. Sanwo-Olu yan say surveyors need dey visible, dey speak up, and collaborate with government to improve land management and sustainable urban development. He talk say proper planning and structuring of land fit unlock economic potential for Nigeria if e dey well-documented. Di Governor add say Africa go develop if dem sabi structure dia environment well, citing Europe and other continents as example because of dia proper spatial management. He highlight say Lagos get only 0.34 percent of Nigeria land but house over 20 million people, so land management na key to prevent chaos and drive sustainable development.

Sanwo-Olu also talk say Lagos dey implement Geographic Information System (GIS) to map every inch of land to improve transparency, accessibility, and ownership, and call on surveyors make dem support di project. He add say digitizing land record go help Naija people wey get assets without collateral. He emphasize say link between universities and professional practice must strong to train competent surveyors wey fit contribute to national development. Nicholas Maclean and other RICS officials yan say dem go support Nigeria surveyors, promote global professional standards, and partner with universities to give opportunities to students and young professionals. Dem talk say achieving chartered status under RICS go improve credibility for Nigeria and open international pathways for professionals, while following international standards go attract investors and make di built environment from housing to transport  work well.
