Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, don tell women and youths make dem no sidon look say make dem enter politics and government matter with boldness. E talk say na dem hold the key to Nigeria better tomorrow. Sanwo-Olu no show, na him wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, come carry him talk for APC Lagos State Women’s Summit wey happen yesterday. Dem theme na “Arise, Aspire, Ascend.” The governor talk say women don long be di real power wey dey mobilise grassroots and dey run party strategy, but now dem gats turn dat power into leadership and policymaking roles. “As women, we gats comot for where we dey just watch, make we dey hungry to grab our correct place for leadership, and climb go better levels to make big impact,” na so e talk. E come add say youths, especially those wey dey vote for first time, gats join politics sharp-sharp. “If 4,000 of us fit carry 20 people each come register, na 80,000 new voices we go get for democracy. Na so we go make our power strong well well,” na so e talk. Di summit wey pull over 4,000 people come, na to hype women and young people well well before 2027 elections. Sanwo-Olu vex say Lagos voter turnout for 2023 weak, na only 762,000 out of seven million wey register show face for voting. “Gen Z, una get gbege. This time, we no want make una just register, but make una vote plus defend una votes,” na so she yarn, tell people say make dem make sure say every person register at least 20 new voters before next election. Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, yan say Nigerian women go join body to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second term come 2027, because Tinubu serious about women and youth matter.

The minister talk say women na di “heartbeat of this administration” and promise say this time, Nigerian women go talk with one voice to claim their correct place for government.“Together, we go back Mr. President and carry one big shopping list, because after 26 years of democracy, we never get female governor, only four female senators for 109, and just 3.7% of elective offices na women dey hold. But things go soon change,” na so she talk am.
