The Local Organising Committee (LOC) wey dey run the ongoing ninth National Youth Games (NYG) for Asaba don assure say the Games closing ceremony no go clash with Super Eagles World Cup qualifier match against Rwanda wey dey Saturday. Originally, dem plan to hold the closing ceremony on Sunday, September 7, but dem don shift am go Saturday, September 6. Festus Ohwojero, one member of LOC, talk say if dem hold ceremony on Sunday, e go make expenses increase because of accommodation and other logistics. E explain say all competitions go finish on Saturday, and both LOC and National Sports Commission (NSC) don agree to hold the closing ceremony by 2pm on Saturday, so that NSC top officials fit fly go Uyo by private jet to support Super Eagles for the World Cup qualifier. Ohwojero add say if dem hold ceremony for Sunday, athletes and officials go get wahala to travel because of sit-at-home order wey dey for southeast, and dem no fit leave Asaba till Tuesday, which go increase expenses. E reassure say closing ceremony no go clash with Super Eagles match.

Meanwhile, defending champion Team Delta dey try recover for medals table after dem fall reach fourth place on day three of the Games. As of yesterday afternoon, Team Lagos and Edo dey lead with 30 and 23 gold medals respectively, while Team Delta hold third position with 11 gold medals.
