Lagos Government Don Launch “Trash For Cash” Program To Boost Recycling

Di Lagos State Government don launch new program wey dem call “Trash for Cash” to encourage residents to turn dia waste to money by exchanging recyclable items like plastic, cans, and bottles for cash. Dis initiative na part of government plan to promote cleaner and greener Lagos. Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announce am for him X handle on Monday, say through LAWMA, dem don begin sensitisation campaign across communities to show people how to earn from waste. “Every Thursday, we go dey reward residents wey help keep Lagos clean. E good for your pocket and for di environment,” he talk.

LAWMA come still back up di program as dem dey educate shop owners and residents for places like Agege on how to sort waste properly and pay bills promptly. Dem talk say field officers and recycling partners don dey visit different areas to teach people how to separate recyclable waste from other dirt. Di state say dis move go help reduce environmental wahala, empower people with small income from waste, and support Lagos to become Africa’s cleanest and most sustainable megacity.
