LASHMA, DSFN Go Expand Healthcare Access For Lagos

Di Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) don partner with Down Syndrome Foundation Nigeria (DSFN) to expand healthcare access for people wey dey live with Down syndrome for Lagos through di Ilera Eko health insurance scheme. For health summit wey DSFN organise for dia headquarters for Fagba with support from NSIA Insurance, di National Administrator of DSFN, Mrs Nike Dennis, talk say di partnership na part of effort to promote inclusive healthcare for persons with Down syndrome. She explain say October na global Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and di theme this year focus on making sure everybody get equal access to healthcare. Dennis talk say under di partnership, all DSFN beneficiaries go register under Ilera Eko scheme so dem fit get treatment for any hospital of dia choice across Lagos without spending money from pocket.

She hail LASHMA and Lagos State Government for carrying people with Down syndrome join di programme, call am big milestone for healthcare inclusion. According to her, di plan go reduce financial wahala for parents and caregivers, and make sure dem children get continuous medical care. Dennis talk say e dey very important to include people with disabilities for healthcare system so dem fit enjoy same quality treatment like others, and now parents fit rest easy knowing say dia pikin don get insurance cover. She still stress say people with intellectual disabilities must dey part of health policy making, and beg government to enforce di UN Convention on di Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) wey Nigeria don sign but never fully implement. She call on authorities make dem move from just talk to real action wey go bring better life for people wey dey live with disabilities.
