Naija House of Representatives don push bill to regulate herbal medicine, wey pipo sabi call ‘agbo’, reach second reading. Di bill, wey Hon. Jesse Okey-Joe Onuakalusi sponsor, wan amend di NAFDAC Act make dem fit regulate herbal drugs, protect consumers from harmful products, and promote quality standards. Dis step dey important to make sure say traditional medicine for Naija dey safe, effective, and of correct quality under proper regulation.

Di bill wey dem title “A Bill for an Act to Amend di National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control Act, Cap. N1, Laws of di Federation of Nigeria, 2004 to include di Regulation of Herbal Drugs (AGBO) and for Related Matters” (HB. 2300), get key proposals like: empower NAFDAC to regulate herbal medicine, create special department for herbal medicine, set up Traditional Medicine Advisory Committee, stop unhygienic production, introduce penalties for unregistered products, give 12-month transitional period for practitioners, and boost public health plus global herbal market. Di bill come because people dey risk health with unregulated herbal products, and e don refer to House Committee on NAFDAC for further action.
