Lagos State Government don call for more promotion of personal hygiene and protection of female pupils for schools. Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) yan for Sunday statement say di message dey stressed during two-day advocacy and sensitisation programme wey dey promote personal hygiene and fight sexual abuse among girls for public primary schools across di state. Di programme wey hold for Christ Church Cathedral Primary School Hall, Lagos Island, and LASUBEB Multi-Purpose Hall, Maryland, gather pupils, teachers, and education stakeholders to talk about girl-child safety, personal hygiene, and self-development. Senior Special Assistant to di Governor on Basic Education, Yewande Cole-Jeje, yan say di advocacy dey designed to share vital knowledge on personal hygiene, self-development, and fight against sexual abuse. She encourage girls say, “As girls, you no suppose limit yourselves, be courageous to take space for professional and leadership positions. You get power to influence change and contribute meaningfully to society.”
Dr. Hakeem Shittu, Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, confirm say state government dey committed to protecting girl-child and ensuring safe learning environment for all primary schools. Him urge pupils to value and protect dem body from any form of harm or abuse. “Your body na treasure; you must value am and always protect am from any abuse or discomfort. If you notice indecent gestures or movements, speak up,” Shittu advise. Him add say di sensitisation programme align with Governor Sanwo-Olu T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda, especially di education and technology pillar wey prioritise well-being, safety, and empowerment of every child for Lagos. Facilitators like Dr. Oluwaoni Adeyemi lead session on personal hygiene, encourage girls to brush teeth, bathe well, and maintain cleanliness during menstrual cycle. Dr. Grace Abolarin handle session on advocacy against sexual abuse, advise pupils to always speak up if dem experience or see any form of abuse, saying, “Speaking up na first step to healing and protection.”
