Federal Government don set December 12 to December 17 to open Section 1 of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway for public use. Works Minister Dave Umahi give di assurance for Lagos during review of outstanding work on di 700km highway yesterday. Section 1, wey span 47.47 kilometres, get six lanes and two carriageways. Umahi talk say dem don set aside April next year to complete and commission Section 1 plus half of Section 2. Di contractor, Hitech Construction Company Ltd., don achieve more than 80 per cent of di reinforced concrete pavement. Umahi express gratitude to God, di President, and di contractor for di work, adding say some areas wey dem remove pits reach 20 metres depth no be easy. E talk say dem get about three kilometres to finish sand filling from Ahmadu Bello Way to Eleko Junction, and dem dey excited about di work and quality wey don done.
Di Controller of Works for Lagos, Mr. Olufemi Dare, praise di contractor for di high-quality work and tell minister say di building wey dey for di area na di palace of di community, and dem dey happy say dem save am. Managing Director of Hitech Construction Company Ltd., Mr Dany Abboud, talk say dem go still backfill from Chainage 34 to Chainage 37. E add say dredging dey continue, and dem dey on track to deliver, while monitoring settlement for swampy and water body areas because of di change of alignment.
