Lagos Dey Try Align Climate Policies, Boost Green Finance For Coastal And Ocean Projects

Di Lagos State Government don announce plan to align di state, federal and international climate policies with investor priorities to fast-track green finance and fund coastal resilience and ocean innovation projects. For di communique from di 11th Lagos International Climate Change Summit, participants resolve say bankable projects for renewable energy, aquaculture and marine innovation go dey developed. Dem agree to use blended finance, fiscal incentives and transparent systems to attract private and international investments. Dem also talk say data, AI and digital tools go dey deployed for better resource management, plus support for research, start-ups and partnerships to scale climate-smart and ocean innovation solutions. Stakeholders further agree to enforce environmental laws, expand mangrove, wetland and marine habitat protection, promote electric vehicles, clean transport hubs and strengthen EV infrastructure to create green jobs.

Di summit also resolve to push climate-smart agriculture, strengthen cooperatives and build cold-chain systems to boost food security and reduce waste. Dem recommend expanding drainage, water and flood-control infrastructure, integrate resilience into housing and urban plans using smart water technologies and PPPs. Di communique talk say Lagos must establish climate project office and investment fund to mobilise capital and turn innovations into bankable climate projects. Dem also push for habitat restoration, digital biodiversity monitoring, ecotourism and expansion of grassroots programmes like coastal champions to promote sustainability. Di 11th Summit affirm Lagos commitment to lead for climate action, resilience building and blue economy growth. Stakeholders call for immediate implementation of recommendations across sectors, stronger public-private-community partnerships and more investment in green infrastructure and ocean innovation.
