No Be Loan We Want – Taraba University ASUU Tell FG, Say Make Dem Give Dem Entitlements

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Federal University Wukari (FUW) branch, don demand say make government pay all their entitlements wey don pile up, dem reject the new loan scheme wey Federal Government bring. The union talk this one during protest wey dem organize to show how dem dey unhappy because government never do wetin dem promise for long time. ASUU FUW Chairperson, Professor Asabe Mercy, wey lead the protest, talk say academics deserve better pay and better welfare, no be loan or debt dem want. She warn say if government close university system again, public suppose hold government responsible because ASUU no go fear to start fight again.

According to her, the union dey demand payment of Earned Academic Allowances (EAA), and she talk say the recent ₦50 billion wey government release no even reach 10 percent of the money wey dem owe. The union also complain say government never give revitalisation funds and say working conditions bad, na why dem do protest. Former ASUU Chairman, Professor Kidzu Oweh, ask how professor go survive on ₦300,000 every month when politicians dey get salary increase. Professor Oweh add say ASUU go continue to fight until government keep their promise, and say education no fit grow if government dey neglect am and do half work.
